My girlfriend, her son and I have just returned from a fabulous two week vacation in Sri Lanka, we were so delighted with the holiday and in particular the fantastic, warm friendly and flexible service that Sarath (Sarath tours) and his driver Sudath offered us we wanted to share this with everybody.
Even though I travel a reasonable amount for work and as much as possible for pleasure, as a rule I never write reports or give feedback on open sites. Our trip to Sri Lanka started with the loss of our luggage, it reappeared 5 days later, largely thanks to the continued pressure Sarath applied, as a result one of our first trips was to buy clothes, toiletries, food etc. this was a real experience that we enjoyed so much we did the same a day or so later when our luggage had still not appeared.. Sarath was a great help with this, taking us to the relevant shops, helping negotiate and find the things we needed, no so easy with a boy that has numerous allergies etc.
We had decided to visit as much of Sri Lanka as possible during our 2 week stay, we looked on the internet for a suitable tour operator and read such good feedback about Sarath tours we decided to go with him, this was our best decision of the holiday, we proposed an agenda to which he critiqued and improved for us and we agreed to follow this, our second best decision. We decided to vary our budget depending on where we were visiting, Sarath had the contacts and experience to meet our needs on all accounts.
Even though we travelled most days & moved hotels on a frequent basis the stresses and tiredness I brought with me dissolved within days rather than the normal week, it was so relaxing, the sights so interesting, so well organised and with Sarath and Sudath keeping the young one so occupied I felt completely relaxed from start to finish. While driving in Sri Lanka can appear incredibly disorganised and frightening at no point did we feel this with Sarath and Sudath, their driving was excellent, safe and considerate to our needs.
On asking our boy what he liked best about the holiday he couldn’t decide if it was the snorkelling with sharks over the coral at pigeon Island Nilaveli, seeing the Leopard, family of elephants and crocodiles at the national park Yala, seeing the dolphins, watching the fire eaters and hot coal walkers in Kandy, taking pictures of the huge fruit bats in Anuradhapura, driving the speed boat in the mangroves, holding the little crocodile and having his feet sucked by fish around Bentota, the massage he had in Ella, the elephant ride or just the swimming in the sea and pools at most of the hotels.
My sincere thanks go out to Sarath and Sudath for organising a fantastic trip, for delivering on every point they promised to our boy, for treating us so well and making us feel part of the family, it was a true delight.
For any explorers wanting to see the real Sri Lanka, learn about the people and the culture, visit some fantastic sight’s both on and off the beaten track, or just want somebody to arrange everything for you them Sarath is the man to contact, you will definitely not be disappointed.
